…continued from this article: No Food Safety Worries with Stainless Steel

LunchBots Duo
I was thrilled when NoPlastic.ca offered to send me some stainless steel food storage containers to review. I was especially interested in three of their products. The LunchBots Duo, pictured to the left, allows two different foods to be stored in the same container, without touching. My son loved it when I stored cherry tomatoes on one side and some Pirate’s Booty on the other.
The second container that I was eager to use was one that was leak-proof. If your experience has been anything like mine, you are no longer surprised to find splooge at the bottom of your kids’ lunch bag that stinks of tuna. We have also had yogurt explosions from time to time. This container has a seal fitted into the lid to keep liquids from escaping.
And the final container that we tried was one that would give me lots of food storage for my buck. This one has two layers, allowing me to load it with lots of food, without worrying that the ingredients would get all smashed together. It was also surprisingly easy to re-assemble, something that is particularly important for my son, who tends to have fairly poor fine motor skills.
Overall, I LOVE these products. I am pleased that I can now pack waste-free lunches for my family in both cool and practical reusable containers. I am keeping my kids healthy and am protecting our planet from extra garbage, all at the same time.
What do you use in your kids’ lunches? I’d love to gather more cool ideas!

I love this idea and am going to go check out their website now! I’m always in the kitchen and I’m always wanting to keep the food for my daughter fresher, and safer! So it’s a no-brainer to me!
Hello–
I ran across your blog looking for information on storing freshly ground coffee in a stainless steel canister in the freezer. Is this safe or is the acidity from the coffee reacting with the metal and leaching into the grinds?
Do you have any thoughts/information??
Thanks in advance!!
Cheers, best regards!

Hi Christina,
Great question about storing coffee. Everything I have read mostly focuses on keeping air and moisture out of the coffee while it is being stored. If I find out more, I’ll let you know,
