Cooking for Baby 101

Alameda and Contra Costa Counties

Who knew that in 1 hour, you could prepare a week’s worth of healthy baby food at a fraction of the cost of store-bought baby food in a jar?  It’s guaranteed to be fresh because you have selected the ingredients, yourself.  Jennifer will show you that you don’t need to be a chef or even savvy in the kitchen to make your own baby food. Although it is cooking at its most basic, it has a huge benefit to your child.  If you start cooking healthy for your baby now you will instill good eating habits from the very beginning.

Jenifer will teach you:

  • How to properly stock your kitchen
  • The basic equipment you will need
  • Food safety tips
  • How to select the produce
  • How to store your homemade baby food.

She will give you a step-by-step guide on introducing your baby to solids, from week 1 all the way up to finger foods. With child obesity and Type II diabetes at an all time high, it is critical parents become involved with our children’s nutrition from the very start.  It takes very little time, but has great rewards.

  • Contact What’s Cooking to schedule a Baby or Toddler Food workshop on a date of your choice.
  • The fee for this workshop is $75 for a private lesson or $40 per person for a small group.
  • An additional Travel Fee will be added if our trip length exceeds 30 minutes in either direction.

Thank you so much for coming to speak to our group, the Marin Parents of Multiples.  Everyone was so impressed with your wealth of knowledge about cooking with children.  – CB
The highlight of our first annual "Kids in the Kitchen" event was our guest speaker, Michelle Stern of What’s Cooking!  She enchanted the children with her demonstration of a fun and easy way to assemble a variety of healthy ingredients.  Her enthusiastic and simple approach to food preparation fired up the imagination of her young audience, and had the children crowding her table after her talk for a chance to chop and mix ingredients.  Michelle left the kids excited about their own abilities and empowered with useful ideas to take home. – C.M, Junior League of Santa Rosa

I wish we could have had more time for our staff training with What’s Cooking. You had so many great ideas of how to get the kids involved! -LB

Thank you for your presentation to our parents about Cooking With Kids. It was chock full of helpful information and great ideas. Ever since our workshop, Carmen has been slicing and whisking and grating and making a huge mess, but loving every minute of it.  Thanks for passing on your enthusiasm!  It is obviously very contagious!  –Lisa
