Cook & Learn

We all eat several times a day – why not turn it into a learning opportunity?

Between the 8 years I spent as a high school biology and environmental science teacher and the 8 I spent running a certified green cooking school for kids, one thing became abundantly clear:  Kids love to learn through cooking activities!

What’s Cooking with Kids is filled with Cook and Learn opportunities for your children and students.  Whether you are a homeschooler, a traditional classroom teacher or a parent, you are sure to find something that works for you.

Cook and Learn Activities

Kids Cook with Books is our free virtual reading and cooking club for 2-8 year old kids.  Every month, we feature a book and a themed healthy recipe for your kids or students to make.  Reading books together is not only fun, but it exposes kids to language and culture.  And so far, kids are LOVING the connection of food with these stories.  Healthy kids make better learners – and cooking is a life skill they will take with them into the future!

Another popular What’s Cooking with Kids feature is my Cook the Alphabet series for Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grade.  Each bundle integrates a healthy no-bake recipe with math and literacy activities.  They not only teach kids how to make a simple recipe, but also build vocabulary and math skills.  And when kids are exposed to new ingredients in the classroom, they are more eager to eat them at home, making mealtime easier for families.

Even though my complete lessons are being sold on the Teachers Pay Teachers marketplace, don’t be fooled – anyone can shop there.  It’s just a great platform for me to share my resources, alongside other educators who want to enrich the lives of kids.
