When I started What’s Cooking 6 years ago, I didn’t know if it would fly. Would anyone call me? How would they know that I was a good teacher? Would customers trust that I would be good with their children?
Apparently, my worries were unfounded. My business has grown from simply doing an occasional cooking birthday party to coordinating and managing after-school cooking classes in 10 schools and working with a fantastic team of teachers. I have even managed to fool convince people in the culinary industry that I am somewhat of an expert on the topic of cooking with kids.
A few months ago, A Million Cooks invited me to record “Soundbites” about Cooking With Kids. I am supposed to record one every week (but sometimes life, work and parenting get in the way.) The ones I have recorded so far include a wide range of topics, all about kids and food. Some of them include:
- Leave the Guild Behind – Empower Your Children
- Packing Healthy School Lunches
- Tips for Cooking Parties
- Animal Themed Recipes
- Table Talk
- Negotiating Dessert With Your Kids
- Reasons to Cook With Your Kids

I can always use fresh ideas. Please let me know what topics about Kids and Food you would like to hear about. If I use your idea, I’ll even mention you in the podcast!

What a great idea. Wish there were something like that around when my kids were younger – although at 11 and 14 they would still like to take a class now!
Thanks for visiting, Amy. I love your blog, too! Yes, kids of all ages seem to love cooking classes – especially when there is eating involved
