I am in love with the idea of a Victory Garden…and am almost giddy to have a First Lady who is sharing her passion about eating well, enjoying family meals together, and educating the nation’s children. Even though she is currently blessed with the national stage, she isn’t the first person to talk about these issues, of course. Alice Waters and Ann Cooper have been promoting locally grown, seasonal foods for ages. There are also lots of other people, like me, who work tirelessly with families and inspire them to bring their children into the kitchen to cook and enjoy good food. These issues are crucial, for both the health of our planet and its citizens.
If you have a few minutes, watch this video. But be prepared to be inspired to play in the dirt and enjoy a seasonal meal with your family.
(You can find the original video about this garden on the White House website.)
Is your family growing anything edible? Tell us about it! I love hearing stories of where people grow their food: in the front yard, back yard, in containers on the patio?

this was great, thanks!
Nice to see someone who really knows their subject. Good work on this.
