Thanks Steph. I'll certainly keep everyone posted here when I learn more about how to work around the system :-)

Michelle, you have a fantastic idea here, and it shows just how big your heart is---something will come of this.
I don't know how, but somehow the loopholes will be figured out.
keep at it.

Hi Mary,
I completely understand what you are saying. They still give the kids reusable menus that are like those from a restaurant, so I don't see how a card or placemat would be any different...

One person at the hospital thought that the laminating idea might actually be a problem because it might imply the extra work of cleaning them...or it might imply that they would be shared between kids, which was not our intention.

I am sure we will come up with a compromise so that we can all do something good here...but I don't know what that will be yet. I really do appreciate your support, though!

Could the placemats be laminated or something? So that they could be sprayed down with disinfectant??

I think it's nuts that they aren't letting CARDS in either. I understand the germ thing, but they have to understand the morale thing. Besides... Germs don't live very long on paper. Are they letting people wear shoes? Shoes track in way more germs than mail!

Okay. off my soap box. Not my blog! :) I think this is a great idea, and it's sad to see it dashed by corporate policy!
